Pakistan Railways Added Ten More Passenger Trains In Last Year

Islamabad: To better accommodate passengers, enhance commuter facilities, and increase revenue, Pakistan Railways has introduced ten additional passenger trains nationwide. An official from the Ministry stated that despite having 86 trains in the railway network last year, the goal is to reach a total of 96 trains, with ongoing departmental efforts to achieve this target.

Passenger facilities at railway stations have been upgraded to include waiting rooms, vending stalls, station restaurants, wheelchairs, information desks, computer reservation facilities, public address systems for train updates, paramedics and first aid services, online reservation options, passenger insurance, and the reinstatement of help desks at stations and in trains.

Regarding safety, Pakistan Railways has implemented precautionary measures resulting in a significant reduction in accidents. Over the past three months, only six minor accidents with no casualties occurred across the entire railway network. The official mentioned that the decrease in accidents is attributed to efforts to minimize trespassing at unmanned level crossings and unauthorized locations. Continuous monitoring of railway tracks and thorough inspections of trains are carried out nationwide to prioritize passenger safety.

The department is actively addressing issues related to track maintenance as a top priority to enhance railway services. The punctuality of trains has been improved through constant monitoring, reviewing, and rectifying operations. Additionally, a mobile application called “Pak rail live” has been launched, allowing real-time tracking of trains to further facilitate passengers.
