121.54 million users of 3G and 4G were registered in Pakistan at the end of December 2022, up 0.65 million from the 120.89 million users recorded at the end of November 2022, according to data made available by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
By the end of December, the Monthly Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) penetration had improved from 54.15 percent at the end of November.
Jazz’s overall 3G user count decreased by 0.135 million from 5.054 million at the end of November to 4.919 million at the end of December. By the end of December, there were 41.149 million Jazz 4G users, up from 40.858 million at the end of November.
While the number of Zong 4G customers climbed from 31.032 million at the end of November to 31.353 million at the end of December, the number of 3G subscribers fell from 2.781 million at the end of November to 2.720 million by the end of December.
While the number of Telenor 4G customers climbed from 22.484 million at the end of November to 22.560 million at the end of December, the company’s 3G subscribers fell from 3.102 million at the end of November to 3.045 million.
By the end of December, there were 2.917 million Ufone 3G users, down from 2.977 million at the end of November. Ufone’s 4G user base climbed by 0.267 million over the reviewed period, from 11.165 million at the end of November to 11.432 million at the end of December.
By the end of December, there were 0.77 million fewer cellular subscribers in Pakistan than there were at the end of November when there were 193.55 million. According to PTA’s monthly data, cellular mobile teledensity declined from 86.7 percent at the end of November to 86.34 percent at the end of December. By the end of December, the overall teledensity had dropped from 87.9 percent at the end of November to 87.51 percent.
In December 2022 compared to November, the number of cellular subscribers, broadband penetration, mobile teledensity, and overall teledensity all decreased month over month. Additionally, from 56 percent in November 2022 to 55.81 percent in December 2022, the penetration of broadband decreased.
