Brightline has stated that starting on Saturday, February 11, it will begin testing trains traveling at 110 mph (177 km/h) in northern Palm Beach County.
The 11-mile stretch of track between Martin and St. Lucie Counties underwent comparable testing during the previous year’s testing phase.
Brightline expects to start offering passenger service to Orlando later this year after all testing is finished.
Siemens Mobility builds the trains for this service, and each one has two locomotives and four passenger carriages.
Along the 129-mile rail line between West Palm Beach and Cocoa, they are being tested in stages.
All 156 railroad crossings along this route have undergone significant safety upgrades by Brightline, including new crossing gates, signal systems, pedestrian gates, pavement markings, and roadway profiles.
Palm Beach County will host the testing in February and March from 7 am to 4 pm.
