On August 9, 2023, in Libo County, Qiannan Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province, employees at the Libo railway station greeting travellers in local minority costumes.

Tuesday morning saw the completion of the Guiyang-Libo segment of the Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway with the departure of a Fuxing bullet train from Guiyang, the provincial capital of southwest China’s Guizhou Province.

The Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Railway, with a designed speed of 350 km/h, is the first high-speed rail for both Guizhou Province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China, whose capital city is Nanning.

The Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway has a total length of 482 kilometres and travels from Guiyang towards the southern regions of Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hechi City, and Nanning City.

The Guiyang-Libo stretch of the rail section has 86 bridges and 62 tunnels because of the complex landforms along the rail segment, including high mountains and steep valleys. Ninety percent of the stretch is made up of bridges and tunnels.
