China-Thailand railways boosts competitiveness, regional connectivity

According to deputy government spokesperson Traisuree Taisaranakul, Thailand is intensifying the development of the China-Thailand railway as part of its endeavors to advance domestic infrastructure, bolster competitiveness, and augment regional connectivity.

According to a statement by Traisuree, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha expressed that the partnership between Thailand and China has significantly improved the efficiency of Thailand’s rail transportation system. This improvement has played a crucial role in enhancing the country’s competitiveness and promoting its overall development.

According to Traisuree, it was stated by Prayut that the Thai government is dedicated to enhancing the rail network in order to improve the efficiency of passenger and freight transportation. Additionally, it was emphasized that the establishment of rapid and secure regional connectivity will stimulate investment and trade in various sectors such as agriculture, industry, and tourism, ultimately leading to an improved quality of life for the population.

According to Traisuree’s announcement, the China-Thailand railway serves as a significant transportation link between Thailand and China via Laos. This railway is expected to effectively address the forthcoming travel and logistical requirements of Thailand’s northeastern region.

The speaker also mentioned that the railway line is an integral component of a transcontinental railway network spanning throughout Asia, in addition to its involvement in the Belt and Road Initiative collaboration. This initiative aims to establish connectivity between Southeast Asia and Europe.
