An official said here on Friday that the Western Railway (WR) trains’ schedules were affected by the cancellation or partial operation of about 180 services in the Gujarat sector as the cyclone Biparjoy “landed” in Gujarat. Two more trains were canceled, one was short-terminated, and three were short-originated today, according to WR Chief Spokesperson Sumit Thakur.
As a precaution for the safety of passengers and train operations owing to the storm, 100 trains have now been canceled, 40 short-terminated, and an additional 40 short-originated. Thakur stated that further safety and preventative measures are being implemented and that passengers will be eligible for refunds in accordance with current regulations.
As of today (June 16), the Sarvodaya Express (12474) between Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Katra and Gandhidham was short-terminated at Ahmedabad, and the Porbandar-Veraval Express and its return services (19207-19208) are also canceled.
The previously canceled Bhuj-Sabarmati Special train (09456) for June 16 will now depart from Gandhidham, while the Sarvodaya Express (12473) will now depart from Ahmedabad on Saturday, June 17.
