Pakistan Railways has decided to resume Fareed Express operations from December 22 with private contractors, ARY news agency reported on Thursday.
The decision was made at a meeting – chaired by Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique – to review Pakistan Railways’ activities.
At that meeting, it was decided to resume operation of the Farid Express from 22nd December. The ministry was to provide operators with one air-conditioned carriage and two economy class carriages to bring the number of bogies to 18.
The ministry also announced that it will operate a shuttle service from Marakwal to Pinda Duncan. Contractors must ensure that trains are kept neat and clean and that operating hours are strictly adhered to.
Meanwhile, the Department also discussed the restructuring of the Land Department and Administration Department of Pakistan Railways.
On the other hand, it is recommended that the ranks of Constable, Senior Constable and Deputy Inspector also be equated with Punjab Police.
